Company Profile
INPEX CORPORATION has been actively involved in oil and gas exploration and production for more than four decades and is currently involved in 72 projects across 26 countries.
INPEX has been a key player in world famous LNG projects such as Bontang LNG and Tangguh LNG in Indonesia and is also currently involved in a number of oil and gas projects in Australia and the Timor Sea Joint Petroleum Development Area. These projects include the Bayu-Undan LNG and condensate project, Darwin LNG and the Griffin (Fields) project.
In 1998, INPEX acquired a working interest as an operator in WA-285-P, located in the Browse Basin 200 kilometres off the north-west coast of Western Australia. A subsidiary company, INPEX Browse, Ltd., was established immediately after the grant of the exploration permit, and received a 100 per cent working interest in WA-285-P from INPEX.
In 2000, INPEX Browse discovered an extremely promising gas and condensate field now known as the Ichthys Field. Six years later, the company transferred a 24 per cent participating interest in the Ichthys project to Total E&P Australia. Total has a long-standing partnership with INPEX and also has extensive experience and expertise with LNG projects around the world.
