INPEX Browse, Ltd. (INPEX), as Operator of the Ichthys Joint Venture (INPEX 76% and Total E&P Australia 24%), has today announced that the designated industrial site on Blaydin Point on Middle Arm Peninsula in Darwin has been selected as the location for its proposed LNG processing facility.

(INPEX), as the Operator of the Ichthys Joint Venture (between INPEX and Total E&P Australia), submitted a Referral to the Commonwealth Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) on 5 May 2008 to consider development of an LNG plant at Blaydin Point on Middle Arm Peninsula in Darwin Harbour.

A joint Commonwealth and State government media statement regarding LNG development in the Kimberley and the Browse Basin was released today.
INPEX was not consulted prior to the media release, nor was it formally advised of the Commonwealth and State governments' position at this time.
INPEX General Manager External Affairs Sean Kildare said INPEX is seeking further clarification of the Commonwealth and State government position before commenting further.
